CarePath is a documentation tool, not a healthcare provider. It does not practise medicine, diagnose, triage, prescribe, calculate doses or check interactions, and it never replaces a clinician's own judgment or instructions.
CarePath sits close to patient safety, so the rules are stricter than a typical SaaS policy — particularly about using it for anything clinical, and about putting patient identifiers into it.
Scope
This policy applies to everyone who uses CarePath, and to everything generated with it. It forms part of the Terms of Service; breaking it is a material breach of that contract.
It is written around one idea: CarePath exists so a clinician can hand their own instructions to their own patient in a form that patient can read. Uses that stretch past that are not permitted, however technically possible.
Clinical limits
You must not:
- use CarePath for diagnosis, differential diagnosis, triage, risk scoring, screening or monitoring;
- use it to choose, recommend or substitute a treatment or medication, or to calculate or check a dose, rate, taper or schedule;
- use it to check interactions, allergies or contraindications;
- present its output as clinical decision support, a guideline, a formulary or a drug reference;
- prompt it to generate clinical content you did not author — for example, asking it to supply instructions for a condition instead of restating yours;
- generate material for a patient you have not assessed, or instructions you would not put your name to;
- use it in an emergency, or where a patient cannot safely wait for you to review the draft;
- share, print or export a comic that no clinician has reviewed and approved.
The Medical Disclaimer explains why. In short: the software performs no clinical function, so using it as though it did puts a patient at risk.
Integrity of the output
You must not:
- remove, crop, obscure, overprint or otherwise defeat the fixed disclaimer on a comic or PDF;
- present a comic as advice from CarePath, or imply that Artemius Labs LLC reviewed, endorsed or authored its clinical content;
- alter a generated comic outside CarePath so that it no longer matches what was approved, then distribute it as approved material;
- add another organization’s name, logo or trade mark to a comic without their permission;
- work around the approval gate, quotas or rate limits by any means.
Data you put in
You must not:
- deliberately enter patient identifiers — names, dates of birth, record or insurance numbers, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, photographs, or any other detail that identifies a person;
- hide identifying information in filenames, organization names, branding or free-text fields;
- upload documents, images, logos or text you have no right to use;
- submit protected health information where a Business Associate Agreement is required and none is in place — see the HIPAA notice;
- submit material from another person’s patient record without a lawful basis for doing so.
Content limits
Do not use CarePath to produce or distribute material that:
- is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening or hateful;
- demeans a patient or a group, or depicts people in a degrading or stereotyped way;
- is sexual in nature, beyond what clinical instruction genuinely requires and in a clinical register;
- promotes self-harm, disordered eating, substance misuse or dangerous practices;
- impersonates a real person, clinic, institution or public body;
- infringes copyright, trade marks or other rights;
- is marketing, political or promotional material dressed as patient education;
- makes claims about a product, device or treatment that your instructions do not support.
Accounts, access and fair use
You must not:
- share a login, or let more than one person use a single seat;
- resell, sublicense, rent or provide the service to third parties as a bureau or agency without our written agreement;
- create additional organizations or accounts to repeat the free plan, evade a quota, or get around a suspension;
- fail to remove access for staff who have left;
- use the service to build, train or benchmark a competing product, or to extract our prompts, models or artwork style at scale.
Technical limits
You must not:
- scrape, crawl or bulk-download the service, or access it other than through the interfaces we provide;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to derive source code, prompts or model weights;
- probe, scan or test the security of the service without our prior written permission;
- circumvent authentication, rate limits, row-level security or any other control;
- upload malware, or use the service to distribute it;
- interfere with other customers’ use, or place a load on the service that degrades it for others;
- access an organization, case or share link you were not given access to, including by guessing link tokens.
Responsible security research is welcome, but ask first. Write to support@carepath.com before you test anything, and give us a reasonable window to fix what you find before disclosing it.
Reporting and enforcement
Report abuse, a suspected breach or a comic that should not have been sent to support@carepath.com. Include enough detail to find it — the organization, the share link, and what is wrong.
Depending on what we find, we may: ask you to stop; revoke a share link; suspend a user, an organization or a feature; terminate the account; or report the matter to a regulator, professional body or law enforcement where patient safety or the law requires it. Where the seriousness allows, we will tell you what happened and what would put it right first.
Suspension or termination for breach of this policy does not entitle you to a refund — see the Refund Policy.
