Accessibility

CarePath is a documentation tool, not a healthcare provider. It does not practise medicine, diagnose, triage, prescribe, calculate doses or check interactions, and it never replaces a clinician's own judgment or instructions.

1. 01Our target

   CarePath aims to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA across the marketing site, the clinician application and the patient reader. The reader matters most: it is opened by people who are unwell, tired, worried, on an old phone, in a second language, or with low vision.

   Accessibility is treated as a product requirement rather than a remediation project. Contrast floors and token rules are enforced by an automated test suite that fails the build when a colour pair drops below the threshold.

2. 02What is built today

   • Colour contrast meets or exceeds AA for body text and interface text, in light and dark themes, and is checked in CI.
   • The whole application can be operated by keyboard, with a visible focus ring on every interactive element and no keyboard traps.
   • Semantic structure — landmarks, headings in order, labelled form fields, described errors — so screen readers can navigate.
   • Every generated panel carries alternative text, and each panel cites the line of the clinician’s text it came from.
   • The reader shows one picture per screen with large type, reflows to 320px without horizontal scrolling, and supports 200% zoom.
   • A large-print PDF on US Letter for patients who prefer paper.
   • Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion; animation is decorative and never conveys information on its own.
   • The interface follows the operating system’s light or dark setting, and can be overridden.

3. 03Known gaps

   Honest list, as of the date at the top of this page:

   • No independent third-party accessibility audit has been completed, and no VPAT or ACR is published yet.
   • Comics are generated in English only. Translation is not available.
   • There is no audio narration of a comic.
   • Dictation for case entry depends on the browser’s own speech support and is not available everywhere.
   • The comic is a visual medium by nature. Alternative text describes each panel, but a patient who cannot see the artwork receives less than one who can — which is one reason the Terms require a clinician to give their instructions directly as well.

4. 04Telling us about a barrier

   If any part of CarePath is difficult or impossible to use, write to support@carepath.com with the subject “Accessibility”. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and the browser and assistive technology you use.

   We acknowledge within 5 business days and will tell you what we can do and when. If we cannot fix something quickly, we will offer another way to get what you needed. Barriers that block a patient from reading their own instructions are treated as urgent.

   Patients: if a comic your clinic sent is hard to read, contact the clinic — they can change the wording, print a large-print page, or go through it with you. See the Medical Disclaimer.
